The 8th Annual BRAIN Meeting: Open Science, New Tools is making a change from a hybrid to all-virtual format. This decision was not made lightly and was made in consideration of rising COVID-19 case levels, which we have been monitoring closely. The main drivers behind the decision were the health of attendees and the changing capacity restrictions as Montgomery County, MD (in which the main NIH campus is located) reached the medium COVID-19 community level

The annual BRAIN Initiative Meeting has always provided opportunities for colleagues to intersect and interact at the crossroads of unique perspectives and backgrounds. We remain fully committed to holding a meeting that is accessible to as many people as possible as COVID-19 continues to circulate and affect our communities. At present, and for the foreseeable future, we cannot accommodate the number of individuals currently registered to attend in person while following public health guidance.
